Our story begins in December 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Final exams had just ended and by a chance of luck Alejandro and Patrizia ended up at the same party. Alejandro approached Patrizia to talk to her, they knew who each other were but had never spoken. Alejandro told Patrizia that if she chose a song and he got the DJ to play it, she had to dance with him*. Alejandro managed to play the song, Limbo, by Daddy Yankee but Patrizia, back then much shyer than she is today, got very nervous and didn’t dance with him. Poor Alejandro looked for her all over the party while she watched him from a corner. She couldn’t believe that a man she had just met had done that to her. He seemed too good to be true. As soon as the song ended they “found” each other. Alejandro, a little frustrated but not showing it, told Patrizia “I was looking for you, I managed to play the song!” Patrizia replied “yes, I was looking for you too! Thank you for playing the song.” After that, they didn’t dance anymore but talked all party long. Nowadays, neither of them remembers what they talked about, but one thing is certain, they both left feeling happy.

When Patrizia left, she told her friend Isabel, “Girl! after talking to him, I want a boyfriend!” Patrizia didn’t realize that Alejandro was behind her and heard everything, but very discreetly, he acted as if he hadn’t heard anything.

Winter break arrived and they both went home. Alejandro to Granada and Patrizia to Caracas. During the break, they communicated on Facebook chat, since neither of them had asked the other for the number. In February 2014, they officially started dating and dancing together at college parties. Since then, despite having spent many years in a long-distance relationship, between Tulsa and Boston, Boston and Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Austin and Boise, and Austin and Waco, there has been no obstacle that has separated them. In October 2022, the stars finally aligned (and the two of them worked very hard to get jobs in the same city) and they started living together in Houston, Texas. After two great years in Houston, they moved to Austin, where in November 2024 Alejandro proposed to Patrizia.

*To give more context...this was a full on American party (or how we call it a Gringo party), the chances of Alejandro being able to play a Latin song were slim, and yet he managed to do it.
